Market Definition:

Internet Protocol Television, or IPTV, is the delivery of video content to homes via the internet as a managed service, that is, over a closed network not accessible via the public internet. To access IPTV, a household must have an internet-enabled device such as a smart TV, set-top box or game console, and an IPTV service provider, typically an internet service provider (ISP). IPTV is available in Australia directly from Telstra, TPG, Optus and iiNet while FetchTV wholesales IPTV to several ISPs which offer retail services. In many respects, for viewers the IPTV experience is the same as free-to-air and subscription television or ‘over-the-top’1 video services such as YouTube, iTunes, Netflix or Hulu. However, the infrastructure used to deliver IPTV is cheaper and more efficient.
